Partial regression plot of eGFR progression. A linear regression model approach was used to generate a partial regression plot for eGFRcreat, adjusting for covariates shown in Table 2. Shaded areas represent 95% confidence intervals. The plot is derived from several different regression equations. Initially, the residual errors of a regression equation were obtained, with (1) eGFR as the outcome, and all covariates besides years, as the independent variables, and (2) years as the outcome against all other covariates as the independent variables. These two steps were conducted separately for the high and low risk groups, and the resulting residual errors were then plotted against each other. Note that values on both axes are residuals, rather than actual eGFRcreat values. Furthermore, because analyses were conducted separately for high and low risk groups, by definition, both lines intersect at the graph origin (0,0). The high and low risk groups are significantly different (βBasic = -1.74, p <0.001).
