Plasma ferritin, transferrin and iron levels in normal and uremic rats at 48 hours and 1 week after a single injection of either vehicle, iron isomaltoside (IIM) or ferric carboxymaltose (FCM). The iron load was confirmed by significant increases of plasma ferritin levels in both normal and uremic rats receiving IIM and FCM. Mean ± SEM. *p < 0.05 vs vehicle, **p < 0.01 vs vehicle, ***p < 0.001 vs vehicle, αp < 0.05 vs FCM.
