Factors

   • Urinary protein excretion ≥1 g/d,

   • GFR < 40 ml/min

   • pulse pressure of at least 70 mmHg

   • male gender

   • duration of hypertension > 10 years

   • no history of smoking

   • cerebrovascular disease

   • hyperuricemia

   • age > 65

   • DBP < 80 mmHg, SBP < 160 mmHg

   • no abrupt onset in blood pressure

   • Diabetes mellitus

   • coronary artery disease

   • peripheral arterial disease
