Among the plasma inflammatory markers measured by multiplex enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the levels of (a) endocan and (b) MMP-7 were significantly higher in patients with low GS and HS than in those with normal GS and HS. The levels of (c) TNF-α, (d) IL-6, and (e) hs-CRP were not different among the groups.
