Patient survival according to cortisol groups. During a mean follow-up duration of 3.3±2.0 years, a total of 24 patients died. In the Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, the high cortisol group showed worse survival than the low cortisol group (18 deaths vs. 6 deaths, respectively; P=0.001). All 6 cardiovascular deaths occurred among patients in the high cortisol group
